ENEWS UPDATE: COVID-19 Response

Dear Members and Friends of UUCH

We are responding to the UUA’s recommendations to forgo all congregational gatherings for numbers over 25 by cancelling Sunday services and all programming until further notice. We apologize for sending this news to you just after sending out the e-news of all the activities we had planned.

The GovCo and MinCo have been monitoring the developing situation regarding COVID-19 and related risks.  We have been sharing information and considering the late-breaking suggestions from the Unitarian Universalist Association, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as local authorities such as the Orange County Schools.

Sunday worship service – March 15:

This coming Sunday’s service will be live streamed from the UUCH Facebook page, so please tune in to hear our wonderful speaker, the Rev. Lisa Garcia-Sampson, and the special music Alan Julich and Clare Steece-Julich have prepared to kick-off our spring stewardship campaign.

Updates on how to access the live stream and recordings will be provided through ENEWS and on our website.

Ministry Council Meeting – March 15:

The MinCo will meet virtually during our regularly scheduled time.  Steve Mahaley will send out a meeting link.

Ministry Circles:

We are fortunate that the Lay Ministry Circle Coordinators were able to gather last Sunday to assign all of you to one of our new Circles; they will help facilitate keeping us connected over the next weeks.  The Communications Team is also poised to keep everyone in the loop on a regular basis about our future plans. While these measures may seem drastic, our first concern is everyone’s safety and the public health of our community.

The coming weeks:

Your support and understanding is greatly appreciated as we navigate this situation.  Your / our health and well-being are of primary concern, and we want to reiterate the recommended key actions from the CDC that will help limit the spread of COVID-19:

  • Frequently wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
  • Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or use the inside of your elbow.
  • Clean frequently touched objects and surfaces.
  • Stay home when sick.
