OC Bail Bond Justice Project

This project is the recipient of our March 2020 Share the Plate. Kathy Brewer will be speaking at UUCH on February 23rd. If you want to get involved or know more, please read this announcement:

Orange County Bail/Bond Justice will have its next Court Observation Training Session on February 6, 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM. This training is for observing and documenting the First Appearance Hearings where bail is set.
There will be two parts to the training on the 6th. The first part will be a “classroom” style session from 10:00-noon at Binkley Church’s Fellowship Hall. This session will be co-led by a staff attorney from the ACLU and Bail/Bond Justice Court Observation Team  members. The second part will be a courtroom training session. This will be from 1:30-3:30 at the Orange County Courthouse in Hillsborough. The purpose of the second session is to practice what was learned in the morning and practice completing the Project’s Court Observation Form.
People participating in the training will also need to conduct 4-5 practice observations with a Court Observation Team buddy, completing and discussing the Observation Forms for that day’s court docket. We have found this is important in gaining confidence/accuracy in completing the Observation Form. The First Appearance Hearings are held daily at 2:00 at the Orange County Courthouse in Hillsborough.
If interested in taking the Feb. 6 training, they can contact  kimberly@ocbailbondjustice.org by February 2.
