Sew Much Life… Threads Connecting Lives

This morning we welcome members of the African American Quilt Circle (AAQC) to
exhibit and talk with us about quilts that were part of their show, held March 17-
May19 at the Hayti Heritage Center in Durham, NC. The AAQC began as a way to
preserve the heritage of quilting in the African American community. The quilts in
this collection include artistic renditions of current concerns in that community,
including the Black Lives Matter movement, gun violence, black on black crime,
domestic violence, the Charleston massacre, modern day lynching, and human
trafficking. We hope that listening to their stories will provoke thought, start
conversations, and encourage action. Members of the African American Quilt Circle
with Rev. Patty Hanneman, facilitating.
