What should I wear?

Wear whatever you want!  UUCH is very casual. Most of us wear jeans or shorts and we are really fond of t-shirts and flip flops too.

What do I do when I get there?

A very nice member of UUCH will greet you at the door with an order of service in hand. That greeter will be able to answer any questions you have. It can get kind of hectic there in the foyer first thing in the morning. But, if you have a few extra moments, sign the guest book and take a pamphlet or two. Then, have a seat in the sanctuary, anywhere you want. Be sure to stay for refreshments and fellowship after the service so we can get to know you!

What happens at the service?

Sunday mornings at UUCH are a time for us to gather in our liberal faith, learn from one another and share together in acceptance. Some Sundays you can expect to hear moving sermons from our minister or enlightening services from our congregational leaders. Other Sundays you will see fun services from members, pagan celebrations, sermons from other religious leaders from our community or participatory singing and dancing! We encourage variety, thought-provoking conversations and open mindness. All are welcome in our sanctuary. Come join us!

What do I do with my children?

We love our UU kids! If you have an early room child (Ages 0-5), it’s best to let them get settled in before the service begins at 10:30. Other children typically stay with their parents during the first part of the service, then we sing them to their classes about midway through. They are welcome to remain with their parents in the sanctuary, but why would they want to whenReligious Education (RE) is so much fun?

What are joys and concerns?8

This is a unique part of a standard UU service and we think it’s pretty special!  Everybody present is welcome to come up to the microphone and share their joys, milestones, or concerns with the entire congregation. We do this as a way to offer our energy to celebrate with you or to help carry you through a tough time.

How do I just sneak in quietly to see if I like it?

Not possible. We love new people and we love to tell them about all the great things here at UUCH. Expect us to say hello! But, if you must be incognito, you can try coming in a little late, leaving a little early and signing the guest book before you leave.

What is First Sunday Brunch?

After the Worship Service on the first Sunday of each month, we all bring a dish to share. This can be anything from drinks to desserts! We usually have plenty of vegetarian and vegan meals on hand and there’s always plenty to go around!
